I’d never used a luggage storage service before, but I had check out of my hotel in a different area by 10:30 and needed to fly out of Edinburgh at night, so this way I could do stuff around the city during the day. It’s so convenient. A tram stop to go to the airport is across the street and it’s a few min walk from Waverley.

I did not receive location information via email, as was promised, and could not find the lockers. Thus I was not able to drop the baggages, even though I had paid. I would request for compensation for the cost. I tried to call the company, when the booked time started, but nobody answered. I am disappointed of the service.

Checking in your luggage is quick and easy, but be prepared for a 15-minute walk to the train station, tram stop, or bus stop leading to the airport—keep in mind that the sidewalks are crowded.

Amazing service. We were late by about 20 min collecting our bags, they had closed but stayed until we got there to give us our bags. They were professional and very polite even though I would have been annoyed if I was in his position. We appreciated the accommodation so very much.

Very easy. The gentleman at the counter was friendly and was quick to store our bags and equally quick to retrieve them later. The bags were held in a separate area in the back of the store that appeared secure. Picked up our bags 10 hours later with no issues.

How should I arrive to the Edinburgh Castle from the Airport of Edinburgh?

In order to arrive to the Edinburgh Castle from the Edinburgh Airport, there are a few convenient transportation options. First of all, the most convenient and straightforward option is to take a taxi or use a rideshare service. Since outside the airport terminal, there are dedicated taxi queues where taxis are readily available, it should be really easy to find the ride. The drive from the airport to the castle typically takes around 25 minutes, depending on traffic conditions.

An alternative to this could be the Airlink bus service. In fact, the express bus runs between the airport and the city center, making multiple stops along the way, which might be convenient for you. You can catch the Airlink bus right outside the terminal building, and it offers a comfortable and cost-effective way to reach the castle. From the final stop in the city center, you can either walk up the historic Royal Mile or hop on a local bus that will take you closer to the castle gates.

If you instead want to use public transportation, there are countless local buses that links from the airport to the city center. The bus stops are conveniently located outside the terminal building, and various routes connect the airport to different parts of the city. Once in the city center, you can again walk up the Royal Mile or transfer to a different bus that serves the castle area.

How to reach the Edinburgh Waverley Station from the Edinburgh Castle

If you want to reach Edinburgh Waverley Station from Edinburgh Castle, here’s the list of the most convenient options available.

Certainly, walking is the most straightforward way to get between these two locations, which will allow you to explore the city. It takes 15 minutes to cover the distance of around 0.8 miles. Simply head east from the castle down Castlehill, then continue onto the Royal Mile. Once you reach Market Street, turn right and follow it down until you reach the entrance of Edinburgh Waverley Station.

You could also think about taking a taxi or rideshare service, that can be found outside of the castle. It’s an easier and faster method, especially helpful if you have heavy luggage or are unable to walk for an extended period. The journey only takes around 5 minutes depending on traffic.

However, there are bus services available that could link you to the place. Outside the castle, along the Royal Mile, you can find bus stops with multiple routes heading towards the city center. You could take the bus number 6 to the Princes Street stop, which is only a short walk from the station. Additionally, bus numbers 23 and 27 also pass by Waverley Bridge, which is adjacent to the station.

Lastly, if you prefer the train, you can catch an Edinburgh-bound train from Haymarket Station, located in the west of the city. The journey to Edinburgh Waverley Station only takes a few minutes. Once you arrive at Waverley, you can easily access the city center or catch connecting trains to other destinations.

Things to do near Edinburgh Castle

Just a few minutes away, you can admire a church near Edinburgh Castle, St. Margaret Chapel, one of the royal family’s private churches. Despite its rural architecture, the Chapel is a wonderful place to visit, full of history to unveil and secrets to discover. However, if you want to learn more about the past of the city, you can also take a guided tour of The National War Museum of Scotland. In this beautiful building, thousands of historical evidence and artifacts are collected, representing the history of the country and its brave and rebellious spirit.

After a lot of time spent sightseeing around the city, you can just stroll around, enjoy the city life and shop a little bit. In this case, Royal Mile is a mandatory stop, where you can find many restaurants, shops, and pubs, where to spend a nice evening and have a pint of beer with your friends.
