Comiket 2026: Winter Dates, Tickets, Tokyo Big Sight & Tips

Akihabara street in Tokyo lined with anime and manga shops

Comiket, the Comic Market, is the world’s biggest fair for self-published manga, doujinshi and fan goods, and its winter 2026 edition (C109) runs for three days, Tuesday December 29 to Thursday December 31, 2026, at Tokyo Big Sight. It’s back to a three-day format for the first time in years. Thousands of independent creators, called circles, sell their work from 10:30 to 16:00 each day, and there’s a big cosplay area and corporate booths from anime and game companies.

Flying in or out around New Year? Leave your suitcase near Hamamatsucho on the way to the bay and keep your hands free for the halls.

What Is Comiket?

The Comic Market started in 1975 and takes place twice a year, in summer and in the last days of December. Almost everything on sale is made by fans and independent artists: doujinshi (self-published comics), illustration books, music, games, acrylic stands and other merch. Each circle sells only on its assigned day, so the web catalog matters. Bookmark the circles you want, note their day and hall, and plan your route.

Cosplayers have their own areas with separate rules on changing rooms, props and photography. Corporate booths sell exclusive goods from publishers and studios, and the lines for the popular ones form early.

Tips for First-Timers

  • Don’t queue overnight. Waiting near the venue the night before is banned, and the organisers enforce it.
  • Bring cash in small notes and coins. Many circles are cash only, and change runs out.
  • Dress in layers. You’ll wait outside in the December cold, then walk into packed, warm halls.
  • Carry water, a charged phone, a battery pack and a sturdy bag with flat folders for prints.
  • Save the official map offline once it’s out. The layout will differ from last time because of the East Hall works.
  • Book flexible accommodation early. Late December is a busy travel period in Japan.

Luggage Storage in Tokyo

Big rolling suitcases and the Comiket crowds don’t mix, and coin lockers near the venue fill up fast. Lots of overseas fans also travel on the same days, flying in on the 28th or leaving on the 31st.

Radical Storage doesn’t have a location at Tokyo Big Sight or in Odaiba. The closest options are in central Tokyo along the way: near Daimon and Hamamatsucho, a short ride from Shimbashi where the Yurikamome starts, at Tokyo Station, and in Akihabara, where many fans head after the fair. Book online in a minute, drop your bags at a verified local business and pick them up later. Every bag is protected up to €10,000, cancellation is free, and travellers rate the service 4.8/5.
