The Wroclaw Christmas Market takes over the Rynek, the city’s huge medieval Market Square, and spills into neighbouring Plac Solny for about seven weeks each winter. It’s one of the longest-running seasonal fairs in Poland and stays open past New Year, so it works for a trip in late November or the first days of January. The organisers haven’t published the 2026 dates yet, but the pattern is steady: an opening on a Friday around 20 November and a last day in early January. Below you’ll find the expected dates, opening hours, food, transport and where to leave your bags.

Where the Stalls Are: Rynek and Plac Solny
The Rynek is one of the largest market squares in Europe, with the Gothic Old Town Hall in the middle and rows of coloured merchant houses on every side. The wooden huts fill the square around the town hall and carry on into Plac Solny (Salt Square) in the south-west corner. A main stage hosts concerts, parades and visits from Santa through the season.
Everything sits within a few minutes’ walk, so you can see the whole Wroclaw Christmas Market in an evening. Come back in daylight if you want to shop properly, as the crowds thin out before dark.

Opening Hours and Holiday Closures
In 2025 the market opened every day from 10:00 to 21:00, with a few exceptions over the holidays. Expect a similar schedule in 2026.

Food and Drink at the Wroclaw Christmas Market
- Grzaniec: Polish mulled wine, often served in ceramic mugs you can keep or hand back for your deposit.
- Oscypek: smoked sheep’s cheese from the Tatra mountains, grilled and served with cranberry jam.
- Pierogi: dumplings with savoury fillings like meat, cabbage and mushroom, or sweet ones with fruit.
- Kiełbasa: Polish sausage straight off the grill, usually with bread and mustard.
- Gingerbread (pierniki) and roasted nuts to take home.
Most huts take cards, but bring a few złoty in cash for the smaller craft stalls.
Gifts, Dwarves and Things to Do
Stallholders sell hand-painted glass baubles, wooden toys, amber jewellery, ceramics from Bolesławiec and knitted hats and gloves. The stage programme in 2025 included an opening parade with a brass band, the lighting of the Christmas tree, a Santa parade and a Three Kings procession on 6 January. The 2026 programme hasn’t been announced yet.
Wroclaw is also known for its hundreds of small bronze dwarf statues (krasnale) hidden around the Old Town. Several stand on or near the Rynek, and hunting for them between stalls is a good way to keep kids busy.
