History of the Pont des Amours:

• In 1845, the first wooden footbridge was erected for the visit of King Charles-Albert of Savoy. The project had been in the making for 10 years, allowing visitors to admire the canal’s illuminations.
• Then, in 1859, the public garden footbridge was constructed in cast iron by Claude Grandchamp. This three-arch bridge was eventually dismantled due to high maintenance costs and obstructing boat passage.
• Finally, in 1907, the city replaced the cast iron bridge with a new iron construction by architect Gaspard Fruauf, inaugurated alongside the monument dedicated to Eugène Sue.

To get from Annecy Train Station to Lover’s Bridge on foot, it will take you approximately 20 minutes. Simply exit the station and head southeast towards the city center. Follow the signs to guide you to the Pont des Amours, which is situated on the edge of Lake Annecy. Located behind the town hall, it crosses the Vassé between the Quai Jules Philippe (on the Jardins de l’Europe and town hall sides) and the Promenade Jacquet (on the Pâquier side).
