About Puig des Molins

Spanning nearly 5 hectares, the Monographic Museum of Puig des Molins stands as the largest and best-preserved Phoenician-Punic necropolis in the western Mediterranean basin. Puig des Molins Ibiza necropolis is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the burial caverns still contain the remains of the gravesite and the city’s old cemetery.

This rocky shrubland, surrounded by olive trees, was chosen by the Phonecians as their ancient burial place, and the Ibiza Necropolis holds around 3000 underground graves called hypogea, of which just 340 are visible from the exterior, with the oldest going back to the 7th century. During your visit to the museum, you will be able to access some of the hypogea with stairs and illumination. The Necropolis Puig des Molins exhibits a multifaceted chronological progression, divided into ten distinct stages, spanning from the Phoenician and archaic eras to the present day.
