About Terézváros, Budapest
Terézváros is also known as Theresa Town or Terez, which reflects the name of Queen Maria Theresa, an Empress of Hungary and Austria. It is the 6th District of Budapest and lies next to Erzsébetváros on the Pest side of the city, which connects to district V via Erzsébet Square. It got its name in 1777 after the Empress visited this district.
This neighborhood was one of the many that started populating after the formation of the twin capital of Budapest in 1873. Today, it is the second most inhabited neighborhood in the capital city despite it being the second smallest district in Budapest after Erzsébetváros.
Terézváros offers easy access to all the other districts of the city as well as prominent tourist attractions like the Opera House. Going from Budapest airport to Terézváros takes around half an hour if you take a bus and a couple more minutes if you prefer a train ride.
